CalArts Bob is a senior citizen that has been a visitor at the CalArts school for more than 30 years and has been involved in several CalArts projects. We started talking about CalArts Bob as being an institution himself and thought it would be interesting to compare his position with our own house project. We invited him to be the critic at one of our exhibitions at the house in Val Verde because we thought it was interesting to ask a person who had been experiencing the art scene since the 50’s. We filmed CalArts Bob while he discussed the different art works that he had experienced. The video became a documentation of a meeting between contemporary art and a private person without prior knowledge of conceptual art. A lot of information got lost about the art works because there were no tools to interpret the content and the discussion mainly focused on form and immediate
